Visiting us at Brixham

Our Brixham office location is at Freshwater Quarry, Brixham. The Quarry site houses the Plymouth University Building known as Brixham Laboratory. We are tenants at the Laboratory. The site was passed to Plymouth University in May 2014, having formerly been home to AstraZeneca’s Brixham Environmental Laboratory.

We are within the Brixham Outer Harbour on the opposite side to the Breakwater and Breakwater Light House.   On a clear day there are stunning views across Torbay and Lyme Bay.  The town centre and fish quay are only a 5 minuite walk away.

The quarry site used to be a limestone quarry and it’s conveniently located on the South West Coast Path with a large pay and display carpark.

Things to consider when visiting our Brixham office

• The Laboratory building is private and highly secure, entry is by prior appointment only.
• Summer tourist traffic into and out of Brixham often leads to gridlock. We suggest you leave in good time if you are traveling from the outside of Brixham.

Driving directions to our Brixham office

If you are planning a visit to us for the first time we recommend arriving by car and using a SAT NAV to find us.  The post code for SAT NAV is TQ5 8BA.

Some SAT NAV’s give directions to a destination on a road called North Furzeham Road. This road is on the cliff above our office at Freshwater Quarry.

If you find yourself on North Furzeham Road (it’s one way) you’ll need to drive to the end of the road and turn left on to Overgang Road. Once on Overgang Road, descend the hill until you come to the sharp hair pin bend and turn left on to Blackball Lane.

Drive down Blackball Lane to Freshwater Quarry car park. You’ll see the Brixham Laboratory building in front of you. It is the only building within the Quarry and is branded Brixham Laboratory with Plymouth University.

Parking at our Brixham office

Free parking inside the Laboratory compound

There are visitors parking spaces within the Brixham Laboratory compound. If you drive in, you will see any free spaces clearly marked for visitor parking only.

These visitors parking spaces are on a first come first served basis. We do not have the ability to reserve spaces for our visitors, we are sorry to say.

If there are no spaces within the compound, you can use the Torbay Council pay and display spaces within the main public car park, or the free Brixham Laboratory spaces – see below.

Free parking within Freshwater Quarry Car Park

There are 25 spaces our visitors can use free of charge within the pay and display car park.  These spaces are marked private with yellow bollards and are reserved for Brixham Laboratory use only. They shadow the Blackball Lane entry road.  These parking spaces are very tight. We suggest pulling in your wing mirrors and reversing into the spaces. Reversing in makes it easier to get out if the pay and display carpark is full.

Please note these spaces are on a first come first served basis and are often full between 8.00 and 14.30.

Pay and display parking within Freshwater Quarry Car Park 

There is a Torbay Council 122 space pay and display car park adjacent to the laboratory building. Parking is available from 1 to 24 hours. You can pay with cash or mobile using location code 15809.

Entry to our Brixham office

Once parked, head for the 4 flag poles. The flag poles are on the coast path side of the building. There is a big metal gate in the fence to enter the site from the coast path. The main entrance and front door are opposite this gate. The building’s anchor tenants Scymaris and Effect have their branding at the entrance.

When you arrive at the front door, the door will open automatically. Please press the call button on the outside of the automated door. Once the call button is pressed the estates team will come to greet you. They will ask you to sign in to the visitors register for the building and bring you to our office.
