Government grants for electric car charging for home working are due to finish
Two government electric charging grants are available for dental associates and practices until March. You don’t need an electric car to take advantage of them, but you must operate as a registered company registered at your home address to meet the criteria and display a need for them in the future. e.g. you are planning to purchase an electric car you will be using for work
- The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) will help with installing charge points. The grant is 75% of the cost, capped at £350. If your company is registered at your home address and you (or your company secretary) perform some of your work duties from a home you own, you can claim a grant.
- EV Infrastructure Grant for Staff and Fleets will help with installing charge points. The grant is 75% of the cost, capped at £850 and will require up to 5 parking spaces to be made ready for EV charging. This grant is suitable for dental businesses rather than associates.
- Grants will not be available from April 2025 as the funding is being withdrawn.
- You can claim the grant even if you do not own an electric car, provided you plan to meet the criteria.
- The grants received are taxable income and offset by the equipment’s cost.
