Most people know that the deadline
for filing your personal tax return online for 2008/9 is 31 January
2010. The deadline for paper-based returns has already passed
(it was 31 October).
You need to file a self-assessment tax return if you have been
asked to do so by HMRC. You are also obliged to inform HMRC if
you think you need to file a tax return, in other words, if you
have income that is not taxed under PAYE.
Naturally, we recommend that you consult an accountant to make
sure that you do not pay more tax than you have to.
Sole traders, partners, company directors, buy-to-let property
owners, are all examples of people who need to file tax returns.
If you want to file your own tax return, you will need to register
and get the login details from HMRC at least a couple of weeks
before the due date of 31 January.
Or we can make it easy for you. We prepare the return, calculate
how much tax you have to pay and let you know the options for
reducing your tax bill.
We can also file your return online and deal with any queries
from HMRC, as well as providing you with a full explanation of
your tax situation and the options available to you.
