How much are late filing penalties?

Companies House requires all companies registered in the UK to file accounts annually, nine months after their Accounting Reference Date (financial year end).

If you're late, you will be fined. No excuse, no discussion. And the later you are, the higher the fine.

 How late are the accounts?

Penalty (private company)

 up to 1 month

£150

 1 - 3 months

£375

 3 - 6 months

 £750

 more than 6 months

 £1500

The law also provides for penalties for the late filing of certain other documents. These fines are more liberally enforced but this you might be unlucky (and Companies House policy could change) so the best approach is to just do everything on time.
